HOT•BED cordially invites you to your last chance to see our current exhibit, Regal Planet, a group exhibition featuring Philadelphia based artist Andrea Hornick, as well as New York based Hisako Kobayashi and Japan based Tomiya Nishimura. This show is dually curated by James Oliver Gallery and ArtMobia. The Closing Reception will be held Saturday, January 19th from 6-10pm, at 723 Chestnut Street, 2nd floor, Philadelphia PA 19106.
We are thrilled to bring together the works of three incredible artists, combining their lush palettes and ethereal imagery, these works will play alongside HOT•BED’s flourishing greenlife. Kobayashi’s mysterious and rich oil paintings create a sea of color, where life and science are at play while Nishimura’s figures travel, primarily solo, through their own mystic landscapes. Hornick’s works alter the figures in old masters’ portraits to include spirit animal guides, while titles provide alternate interpretations and a feminist twist, acting almost as part of the piece itself.
Together the artists’ works create Regal Planet, a show which interprets characters and colors intimately engaging with the earth and their place on it. Curated by James Oliver Gallery and ArtMobia founder Jason Peng along with horticultural design by Bryan Hoffman, Regal Planet combines history, color, the human figure and the natural world to create a reverberating presence that is not to be missed.
This will be a dual gallery closing, in collaboration with The Janis Project at James Oliver Gallery.
