SUMMERHOUSE
HOT•BED is pleased to present SUMMERHOUSE, an open call exhibition curated around the idea of escapism. Featuring 58 contemporary artists working in sculpture, painting, photography and mixed media, curator Bryan Hoffman invites visitors who seek a distraction from daily life to engage in a fantasy. After a year of upheaval and transformational cultural shifts, this artistic oasis is designed to let people take a beat, reconnect, and prepare to emerge into a new world.
SUMMERHOUSE will have conjunctive event programming throughout the course of the exhibition, including a residency by Lino Kino, a Philadelphia-based media arts collective, in MICRO•GALLERY. Lino Kino will transform the space into the home for their internet art TV channel, LKTV. MICRO•GALLERY will become a multi-use production and broadcast studio that serves as the focal point to spontaneous broadcasts including live music, DJ sets, current events, cultural commentary, performance art, dance, comedy, and the strange and uncategorizable. LKTV will be live streaming on Twitch and will be open during gallery hours from July 24 - August 21.
